Help
How it works
Three steps from video to a finished clip with captions.
- If the language pack is already downloaded, captions start right after importing or recording.
- Several files at once? They’re processed one after another – you can keep working meanwhile.
- With “View Example” you can try all tools on a short video.
Recording Tips
Good sound matters more than a perfect picture – it also makes captions more accurate.
- Light: Face a window or a lamp. Light from behind makes your face dark.
- Sound: Record in a quiet room. Rugs, curtains and furniture reduce echo. A clip-on microphone helps a lot.
- Distance: Keep the camera about an arm’s length away, eyes in the upper third. For Reels, hold iPhone upright.
- The frame in the camera preview shows where captions and social media controls will appear. Keep those areas clear.
- Watch the level meter while you speak. If it doesn’t move, no sound is coming in – check the microphone.
Interviews & USB microphones
Two cameras, two people and, when needed, two separate microphone channels.
- On a supported iPhone or iPad, choose Record → Interview. Hold the device between you: rear camera toward your guest, front camera toward you. Both cameras record together. The automatic edit is a suggestion you can change afterwards.
- Connect the USB receiver before opening interview recording. Set it to stereo or separate L/R output, rather than a mix or safety track. Default: guest = left, you = right. Use the double arrows to swap the assignment before recording.
- Speak into each microphone separately: only its assigned meter should rise clearly. Two reported channels do not guarantee separation if the receiver sends a mix. The app shows a notice for mono input or an input change; reopen recording after reconnecting.
- Each microphone is stored separately as mono. Audio follows the visible camera in the edit, including manual changes and export. Check speaker changes and overlapping speech. On Mac you edit imported videos; simultaneous interview capture is for supported iPhones and iPads.
Review Text
Speech recognition is good, but not perfect. A quick check is worth it.
- Uncertain spots are marked. “Next Uncertain Spot” jumps straight there – on Mac with ⌘G.
- Select a block’s time to jump to that spot and listen. Fix the text right in the block.
- Find names and technical terms quickly with search.
- Wrong language detected? Choose “Language in Video” and then “Recreate Captions…”.
Cutting
Trim the start and end or remove individual words.
- Drag the handles on the timeline to set the start and end.
- In the Cut tool, remove individual words with a click or tap. The captions adjust.
- “Find filler words” and – where available on your device – “AI suggestions” mark candidates. You decide what goes.
- Your original stays unchanged. Cuts can be undone at any time.
Caption style
The caption style sets the font, colors and animation.
- Choose a style from the catalog. The preview shows it with your text.
- Adjust size, position and highlight color for each project.
- Use your brand colors with CI Colors.
- Turn off motion if you want calmer captions.
Scenes & Cutout
Scenes place you in front of a designed background – handy for portrait clips.
- Choose a scene and the frame format, for example Portrait 9:16.
- “Cut out person” detects people automatically. Hair and fast movement aren’t always perfect.
- In front of a green or blue wall, choose “Remove green background” or “Remove blue background”. That color also disappears from clothing.
- Cutouts need processing power. On older devices the preview may stutter and export takes longer.
Enhance Audio
“Enhance Audio” reduces noise and echo in the original audio – right on your device.
- Set the strength and start the calculation. Then compare “Original” and “Enhanced”.
- Set too high, a voice quickly sounds artificial. A medium strength is often enough.
- The selected audio version applies to the preview and the export.
- With long videos the calculation takes a while. You can cancel it at any time.
Export & Share
Export your video with captions burned in, or just the captions as a file.
- Choose “Save to Photos”, “Share…” or “Save to Files…” – depending on where the video should go.
- Full HD is enough for Reels and Shorts. 4K is only worth it if your original was recorded in 4K.
- You can use SRT and VTT files, for example, on YouTube or in video editing apps.
