On your device
CaptionAgent processes recordings, transcripts, captions, edits, scenes and audio enhancement locally. Interview camera switching and USB stereo channel separation also run on your device. We receive no project content. The app requires no account and includes no advertising, tracking or proprietary analytics or crash reporting.
Storage and deletion
Projects, media copies and settings remain in app storage until you delete them. Imported originals stay unchanged. Deleting an interview project also deletes its owned camera and audio recordings. Exports and device backups may retain copies that you manage at their destination. The app does not sync projects through iCloud. On Mac, the app data folder may remain after removing the app.
Apple, purchases and external services
Apple may download required speech models. The App Store and StoreKit handle product requests, purchases, subscriptions and restoration; we receive no payment details. The app checks purchase entitlements supplied by Apple. Apple may also handle backups and diagnostics you agree to share under its own terms. External links open websites; sharing and cloud storage use your chosen service and its privacy policy. These system services may process data outside the EU.
Camera and microphones
Camera, microphone and speech recognition are used for their respective features after system permission. Media is selected through Apple’s picker; saving to Photos uses add-only permission. You can change permissions in system settings. Obtain participants’ consent before recording. External microphone input is processed locally.
Website and hosting
This website uses no advertising or analytics trackers, external fonts or cookies. Your language choice may be saved locally in the browser. Hosting and support email use STRATO GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, as a processor under GDPR Art. 28. IP address, request time, URL and technical browser data are processed to deliver and secure the site (Art. 6(1)(f)). STRATO states that IP addresses used to prevent attacks are kept for up to seven days; customer access logs are anonymized.
Email support
If you email us, we process your sender details, message and voluntary attachments to answer your request (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b) or (f)). Please avoid sending confidential recordings unless needed. Messages are deleted after resolution unless statutory retention duties or necessary evidence require otherwise; Art. 6(1)(c) applies to those legal duties.
Your rights
The controller is Bodo Kern Medienproduktion, owner Bodo Kern; address and contact details appear below. Subject to legal conditions, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction and portability (GDPR Art. 15–20). You may object to legitimate-interest processing on grounds relating to your situation (Art. 21) and withdraw consent for the future. You may complain to a supervisory authority, particularly the data protection authority of Lower Saxony. There are no automated decisions with legal effects.
